FET Colleges to offer Maritime CoursesSkillzHUB 2012-11-05
On Friday, 2 November 2012, Deputy Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga said 12 Further Education and Training colleges (FETs) will offer courses in maritime subjects. This is part of an initiative fill the 45 000 vacancies in the maritime industry.

Call for Comment: Learning Programme RegulationsSkillzHUB 2012-07-03 June was a relatively quiet month for the SkillZHub. However, this month’s digest coincides with the publication of the learning programme regulations on 2 July 2012. These are available from the SkillZHub Notice Board, as well as from our downloads page. We draw attention to the 30 day period for comments which means that comments must be submitted to DHET by 2 August 2012.

In this month’s SkillZHub Digest we remind you of the introduction of SkillZBriefs. These are occasional papers posted to the Premium Zone of the SkillZHub. Topics covered will vary, and when authored by the SkillZHub will focus on information sharing. The first volume of SkillZBriefs, consisting of eight briefs in all, summarises various sections of the Green Paper on the Post-School Education and Training System, published in January. Green paper for Post School Education and Training LaunchedSkillzHUB 2012-01-12
This is the first SkillZHub Digest for 2012 – it is ahead of schedule as we believed that it was important to bring today’s developments to your attention.
This morning, the long-awaited Green Paper for Post School Education and Training was launched by the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande. The paper deals with every aspect of the post school system, from FET colleges (public and private) workplace-based learning, universities, and the state institutions and the regulatory system, as well as the issue of disability. Among other things, it includes proposals for strengthening the grant-levy systems and for simplifying the NQF.
